Hebrews 2:5

NT Letters
Hebrews 2:5
5For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
Read in NWT ↗
JW Usage

"He has not subjected the inhabited earth to come, about which we are speaking, to angels" (NWT). The Watchtower reads this as forecasting the post-Armageddon paradise earth — a future age in which mankind, restored to perfection, will rule under Christ. Angels are explicitly excluded from rulership of that world to come; the implicit positive subject is humanity (the 144,000 with Christ, the great crowd as subjects).

Protestant Usage

is the question the chapter is answering: who governs the world to come? The author's reply unfolds across verses 6-9 — not angels, but the Son who took on humanity and is now crowned with glory and honour. The "world to come" begins breaking in at Christ's enthronement (, 1:8) and reaches consummation at his return. The Watchtower's purely future reading misses the inaugurated-eschatology weight of the passage: the promised future is already partly present in the reigning Christ. Pair with (vocative "your throne, O God, is forever") and ("we see Jesus crowned").
