When you have ten minutes at the door, do not spend it on Level 3. Lead with Level 1 — the deity of Christ and the gospel. Most JW conversations get derailed onto birthdays, blood, or 1914 (Level 2/3 disputes from a Christian perspective). Discipline yourself to come back to the deity of Christ, because if Jesus is God, the whole Watchtower system collapses; and if Jesus is not God, no other doctrine matters. ## Recognition Signals - "we are God's organisation because we don't celebrate birthdays" - "look at our identifying marks" - "the cross is pagan" - "Christmas is pagan" - "we don't take blood" - "1914" - "neutrality in politics" - "the great tribulation hasn't come yet" ## Opening Question > "Before we talk about birthdays, the cross, blood, or any of the things JWs and Christians often disagree about — can I ask you the most important question in the Bible? Stay here — everything else is downstream. If Jesus is God, your view of Him is wrong; if Jesus is not God, mine is wrong. Neither of us has time to settle birthdays today. Let's settle Christ. ### Response 2 **JW says:** "Why are you avoiding the things our Bible study is about?" **Observation:** Honest answer: because the Bible itself sets the priority. Paul's gospel summary in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 mentions Christ crucified, buried, and risen. He doesn't mention blood policy or birthdays. Galatians 1:8-9 anathematises a different gospel — not a different position on holidays. The first-order issue is who Christ is and what He did. ### Response 3 **JW says:** "We need to discuss our identifying marks — those show we're the true religion." **Observation:** In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus tells some who claimed His name — "I never knew you." He doesn't list birthday-abstaining among the criteria. He says only those who do "the will of my Father" — which He defines elsewhere as believing in the One He sent (John 6:29). The "identifying marks" path runs into Matthew 7 head-on. ## Follow-Up Once the JW agrees to focus on the deity of Christ, deploy ONE argument well — typically psalm102-hebrews1 or el-gibbor or zechariah12-pierced-yahweh. Pick the one most aligned with the JW's reading habits. Resist the temptation to chain three arguments — one well-made point goes deeper than three half-made points. End the conversation with the gospel-test playbook to make sure they hear the gospel even if the deity argument is unfinished. ## Counter-Arguments (Recommended Order) 1.
